Job Title: Financial Engineer III
Job Location: Washington, DC


  • Work in a team of software developers and financial engineers implementing enterprise scale web applications aligned with the corporate standard
  • Develop financial applications, prototypes, and technical solutions to support the needs of the fast changing Capital markets business
  • Use advanced mathematical, analytical, or econometric tools to create algorithms that will be used in analytical or product development processes
  • Develop or refine computer applications that provide deeper analysis of prospective asset performance, asset pricing, new asset classes, or information needed to measure or hedge risk
  • Provide ongoing analysis of new products or asset classes, and suggest program modifications as necessary
  • May test applications for accuracy and functionality before putting them into service
  • Support Capital Markets business application development using Java/J2EE frameworks, Rest Web Services, and Oracle
  • Support integration of predictive and prescriptive analytics in applications to develop insights and illuminate future course of action
  • Investigate, propose, and implement new technologies to enhance our capabilities, including migration
  • Serve as a technical lead on projects to develop refined analytical applications
  • Understand credit risk models, structured finance, valuation and pricing, and credit risk transfer in mortgage business

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Statistics, or related area or equivalent
  • Six+ years of related experience
  • Strong programming ability in Java and at least one of C/C++, Java, R, or Python
  • Experience with web application and UI development using J2EE, AngularJS, JSP, HTML/CSS3, JavaScript, JQuery, and AJAX
  • Strong command of UNIX shell scripting and Oracle/Netezza databases
  • Experience working on business intelligence platform and/or reporting tools
  • Ability to communicate technical design solutions to a variety of audiences
  • Excitement to develop enterprise scale applications using huge data sets
  • Creative and self-motivated

  • Ability to develop proficiency in new skills rapidly and thrive in a fast changing environment
  • Great technical writing and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, Finance, Physics, or related area
  • Eight+ years of related work experience
