Job Title: National Staff Accountant
Job Location: Colorado


  • Responsible for general ledger functions such as journal entry preparation, account analysis, account reconciliation, and ad hoc schedules – this includes but not limited to: Payroll, IT, Corporate G&A, and Legal related costs
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements including variance analysis and account reconciliations
  • Assist in month end reviews for National, including financial planning and analysis to assess impact on business metrics
  • Convey findings in a cohesive story, including summarizing insights from analysis
  • Prepare communications such as memos, presentation charts, and process documentation
  • Play a lead role with other departments to solve issues, establish policies, and improve processes
  • Monitor and report key operational and financial metrics on a weekly/monthly basis
  • Flexible job hours in order to accommodate month end close schedules and review
  • Updates the chart of accounts including obtaining the appropriate approval for new natural accounts
  • Analyzes monthly and year-end close to formulate accruals and makes corrections to entries by maintaining effective spreadsheet schedules to support such accruals
  • Creates and reconciles schedules to the general ledger balances
  • Analyzes the account to determine the appropriateness of the balance
  • Maintains supporting documentation
  • Develops or recommends adjustments to journal entries when necessary
  • Assist the Manager, Accounting in developing more efficient methods to improve the accounting process
  • Performs special projects and analysis and acts as a primary source of information to Accounting staff

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting/Finance
  • Working knowledge of general ledger accounting functions and financial statement analysis
  • Intermediate to advanced computers skills required in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Flexibility, strong interpersonal, analytical, technical, and problem solving attributes
  • Self-motivated, high energy, well-organized, detail-oriented, and dependable
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with teammates both locally and in other markets

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two to four years of accounting experience
  • CPA license or plans
