Job Title: Packaging Supervisor
Location: Rhode Island

Responsibilities:

  • Insure equipment, manpower, materials, and methods are capable and available and appropriately deployed in order to produce quality products in fulfillment of the production schedule at the lowest possible cost
  • Insure that new workers are adequately trained and can perform their duties in compliance with safety and production standards as well as  company policies  outlined in the Handbook
  • Insure equipment is running on proper  settings through frequent point of use observation of the equipment’s visual indicators i.e.: gauges, dials, and other devices
  • Insure all processes are in compliance with production standards from the beginning to end by  walking the entire process at least three times/hr
  • Insure that a prompt and appropriate response occurs when addressing worker: problems, complaints or grievances
  • Communicate/confer with management those occurrences that may impact the work environment and require additional action (minor occurrences should be handled at the supervisor level)
  • Perform pre-production inspection of equipment and work environment in order to insure processes are safe, available, and capable of performing to the required standards
  • Supervisors must be able to make decisions with limited supervision in order to produce quality products on-time, cost effectively
  • Supervisors are responsible for meeting the production schedule in compliance w/company standards by maximizing the workforce using: team based co-operation, cross-training, coaching and teaching, inter-departmental communication and sharing of resources, and continuous improvement
  • Supervisors are required to surface and document problems. Re-occurring problems must be highly visible and communicated to management
  • Improvement ideas must be documented and reviewed with a sense of urgency
  • Conduct short meetings with team of  workers at least twice/ month
  • Attend staff meetings as required
  • Insure communication with internal customers and suppliers is continuous and improving in order to insure processes are “flowing and balanced”
  • Develop partnerships with internal supporting departments in order to maximize process capabilities
  • Communicate appropriate information to the oncoming shift to insure a smooth transition
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area as well as maintain all Food Plant GMP's at all times

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to work in a noisy environment with the possibility of being exposed to flour, gluten, eggs, and wheat via inhalant or food handling
  • Must be able to work on a variety of floor surfaces including tile and concrete
  • Detail oriented
  • Active learning/listening, writing, reading and mathematics
  • Computer literate
  • Leadership and decision making
  • Ability to read work orders, instructions, or processing charts
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the proper use of equipment
