  • Support and model the Plant safety process
  • Proactively provides engineering and technical assistance to the commercial production lines, processes, and supporting facilities
  • Participates and leads Value Stream Mapping and Analysis to creatively identify new projects, establish business case, and leads project implementation
  • Able to quickly learn and utilize a variety of information systems to extract required data and information necessary to identify, summarize, and prioritize issues
  • Use critical thinking to analyze complex problems, identify root cause, develop creative solutions, establish improvement plans, lead projects, and follow up to successfully complete implementation
  • Directs and coordinates product flow through the lines by reviewing weekly orders and communicating with the Logistics Manager to ensure schedules are organized to meet customer demand, maximize production efficiencies and ensure preventive maintenance and projects are included in the overall Production Scheduling and Inventory (PSI) plan
  • Reviews order and production schedules for possible revisions which will better meet customer demand in the event of production interruptions
  • Coordinates with Maintenance and Engineering Manager to direct maintenance activities required to maintain integrated manufacturing operations by establishing priorities of maintenance items
  • Meets daily with maintenance supervisors to improve the manufacturing line efficiency
  • Coordinates and schedules OPM’s and other preventative or predictive maintenance to be performed routinely
  • Facilitates down time planning sessions to optimize efficiency to support production needs and customer service requirements
  • Serves as primary link between operations and maintenance group for communication and identification of issues
  • Works with the Commercial production supervisors in the weekly scheduling of employees to determine staffing requirements within department to meet cost objectives and maintain fair scheduling of employee overtime
  • Supports the supervisor in developing training requirements and plans for optimal operating costs
  • Monitors daily production and downtime reports to ensure compliance to objectives
  • Tours operations daily to observe process problems pointed out through daily crew meetings
  • Works closely with supervisors to validate production reporting and resolve discrepancies
  • Monitors raw material consumption to determine the accuracy of raw material inventories and usage, formula verification and variances to budget, materials and packaging inventories
  • Reduces or eliminates discrepancies in production reporting
  • Provides input to the Commercial Manufacturing Manager for supervisor and operating personnel performance reviews
  • Communicates effectively with leadership, cross-functional departments and all levels of personnel
  • Able to discuss complex issues, educate, train, and document procedures to sustain improvements and achieve repeatable outcomes
  • Leads and participates in lean initiatives that place creativity above capital and seeks to transform traditional culture, drive improvements, and raise the overall performance of the plant and company
  • Leads and coordinates New Product Launches (NPD), Training, and documentation

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree, preferably in Mechanical or Electrical Engineer
  • Five years of manufacturing experience required, preferably in a lean - continuous process environment
  • Must agree to follow safety guidelines and wear applicable safety equipment; e.g., safety glasses, side shields, approved safety shoes, and other PPE as needed
