Job Title: Tax Accountant II
Job Location: Georgia


  • Responsible for managing and directing all activities regarding tax research, tax records, tax schedules, planning, and compliance required of the organization
  • Works to optimize the tax obligation of the organization
  • Ensures that all appropriate tax returns and payments are filed in a timely manner
  • Prepares and or reviews the provision for taxes for the affiliated group of companies
  • Prepares or reviews the accounting entries for the tax provision of the consolidated group of companies
  • Prepares and files international, federal, state and local tax documents, such as but not limited to returns and provisions related to state and local income taxes, within internal and statutory deadlines
  • Reviews basic to complex work prepared by lower level Tax Accountants for accuracy and potential audit risk
  • Forecasts business tax credits/expenditures in relation to the company's business plan and actual quarterly results
  • Assists in the identification of potential tax savings and/or cost by reviewing/analyzing tax information, schedules, tax notices and discrepancies
  • Researches process errors that caused incorrect tax filings and proposes resolutions to mitigate future process errors
  • Act as the company liaison while preparing and reviewing Information Document Request (IDR) responses for subpart F (Part III of Subchapter N of Chapter 1 of Subtitle A of Title 26 of the United States Code), expense allocation, tax credit issues, and other foreign tax credits during Internal Revenue Service (IRS) audits and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) key control testing
  • Reviews and analyzes tax return positions to mitigate/minimize impact to the organization
  • Maintains internal legislative materials by reviewing existing international, federal, state, and local tax laws for updates/revisions and reports potential impacts of proposed tax laws to management
  • Begins to act as a tax information source and interprets tax laws for the organization

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in: Accounting, Finance, Tax, or related degree
  • Two+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience in Tax Compliance and federal consolidation  with a focus on multi-state filings

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four+ years of relevant experience
  • CPA certification
  • Master of Tax Degree
  • Experience in a large accounting firm or corporation
  • Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors
  • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
  • Networks with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise
  • Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments
  • Accounting standards State and Local Taxes
  • ASC740 (FAS109), FIN48 - Accounting standards Accounting Standard Codification, Financial Accounting Standards, Federal Interpretation Number
  • Various Tax Software - OneSource Tax, Hyperion Tax, SAP, or Fixed Asset System Software
